Students in the Lewis group receive training on a wide range of modern research equipment. Particularly notable in this regard are the chromatography systems, automated liquid handling, colony picking, and reaction screening systems, and glove boxes maintained in the Lewis labs. Students also receive training in the Physical Biochemistry Instrumentation Facility, the Macromolecular Crystallography Facility, and the Laboratory for Biological Mass Spectrometry at IU. Using and maintaining these systems prepares students for careers across a broad swath of molecular science.
Our labs are equipped with 8’ Fume Hoods, rotovap cabinets, biosafety cabinets, incubators, and all manner of standard equipment for chemical synthesis, molecular cloning, and cell culture. Click here for a virtual lab tour!
